Engine 2321

1994 Freightliner FL70 / Custom Fire

Engine 2321 is a rescue engine that is first out on all calls in our response area. With seating for 7 and SCBAs for 6 when fully staffed we have the capability to handle the multiple tasks that a first due apparatus can be faced with.

2321 is equiped with a 1000 gal. tank feeding a 1500gpm Waterous 2-stage pump with two standard side and 1 rear intake. Foam capabilities include class A and AFFF.

Multiple options are available for fire suppresion. For the everyday work the two front 200ft 1 3/4 speedlays flow 200 gpm each, with an additional 200gpm 100ft 1 3/4 line off of the rear bed. 200 additional feet of 1 3/4 is available on the rear bed as needed. ( Note the front speedlays in the photo are green and yellow. This is the closest we could come to Green Bay Packer colors.)

For larger incidents 500ft of 2 1/2 hose with multiple nozzle options are available to flow at 300gpm. 300ft of 3" hose is used to supply an Akron Mercury monitor at flows exceeding 600gpm with deluge tip. All of our hose regardless of size is color coded for ease of identification on a busy fireground.

When larger flows are needed the deck gun is deployed to flow 1200gpm. This appliance can also be detached and mounted on a portable base and supplied with 1 or 2 3" lines depending on the flow needed.

When supplying water from a hydrant to engine or relay pumping from engine to engine the 800ft of 5" LDH is used exclusively. We also have the capability to use 5" LDH to supply smaller caliber lines at a distance by extending the 5" to the site and running smaller lines from a multi valve manifold.

For rural fire fighting 2321 has 20ft of hard flexible suction for drafting, multiple strainers and a jet siphon to transfer water when using more than one porta-tank.

Ground ladders include a 35ft 3 section extension, 1 14ft roof ladder and a 10ft attic ladder. Additional equipment includes combustible gas and CO detectors, dry chem ABC fire extinguishers, and a full allotment of hand tools.

For it's rescue functions 2321 has a complete Hurst "Jaws of life" hydraulic rescue tool sytem including spreaders, cutters, rams, and multiple accesories. Hardwood cribbing is on board for vehicle stabilization.

While normally teamed with Squad 2360 at vehicle entrapments, with it's full extrication and suppresion capabilities 2321 can operate independently of our other apparatus at our multiple vehicle accidents when such a need arises.

Squad 2360 " Squad 1"

1992 Peterbilt 379 / Custom Fire

Squad 2360 or "Squad 1" is the backbone of our fire suppresion and rescue operations. The squad has seating for 10 with SCBAs for 8.

A 20 KW PTO generator powers 8 floodlights. Six are raised from ground level through the roof and 2 tripods are mounted on the rear. 110v power is also available through numerous outlets inside and out and 2 100ft electric rewind cord reels.

For fireground support Squad 1 has a 6 bottle 4500psi cascade system with containment fill station for refilling SCBA bottles. Equipment includes a thermal imaging camera, vent saws, and electric and gas vent fans. Also carried are more axes, hooks, halligans, sledge hammers and hand lights than the rest of our fleet combined.

Inside is a command area with VHF and UHF mobile radios, cell phone, and files of local business layouts and haz-mat storage.

RIT ( Rapid intervention Team ) operations for firefighter rescue are accomplished with dedicated RIT tools and SCBA.

For rescue operations the squad has 2 Hurst "Jaws of life" hydraulic rescue tool systems. Each has it's own spreaders, cutters, rams, accesories and 100ft hose reel. Pneumatic tools include an air chisel and a Hurst high pressure air bag system capable of lifting 56 tons. Air tools can be run from SCBA bottles or dual 100ft air hose reels. Hand tools, hardwood cribbing, hi-lift jacks, and thick padded extrication blankets for protecting the patient during rescue ops complete the system.

When our calls take us out into traffic Squad 1 carries advanced warning signs, traffic control signs, traffic cones, and turbo flares in addition to the safety vests worn by all firefighters.

Engine / Tender 2332

2003 Peterbilt 330 / US Tanker Heritage series

2332 serves as a second due engine and a tender. It has seating for 2, a 2500gal tank feeding a single stage Darley pump with 6 discharges and 2 standard side and 1 front suction. For tender duties dual direct tank fills and 2 pneumatic side and 1 rear manual dump valves are used. The side pneumatic dumps can be contolled from the rear tailboard or the truck cab interior.

As this is a second due or "back-up" engine the hose lays are almost identicle to Engine 2321. Above the pump panel are 2 1 3/4 200ft 200gpm crosslays with 500ft of 2 1/2 hose dead layed. The rear bed holds 300ft of 3" for the TFT Blitzfire monitor and 800ft of 5" LDH for supply. All hoses are color coded. The front crosslays are red and blue, the closest we could get to Chicago Bears colors, as 2321 has Green Bay Packer colors. The rivalry continues!

The exterior of the truck holds a ladder rack with a 35ft 3 section extension, a 14ft roof ladder and a 10ft attic ladder. The officers side has a 2500gal porta-tank on a drop down rack.

Even with limited compartment space compared to a traditional engine and it's dual role as a tender the interior compartments are filled with all of the standard equipment carried on a our first due engine. From adapters to fittings, nozzles to multiple strainers and jet siphons, hand tools to tarps and traffic cones, 2332 can fullfil either mission well.

Tender 2331

1996 Peterbilt 357 / US Tanker

Tender 2331 is a 2 seat 4000gal tanker used primarily for water transport to rural operations where hydrants do not exist. This includes the vast majority of our primary response area.

On board is a 2500gal porta-tank or "drop tank" that is set up at an engine to draft from after the tender unloads through one of three large dump valves. We chose not to use a 4000gal porta-tank to handle the full tank capacity because of the very large size of that porta-tank makes it hard to find a place for it. A tank that large can take up a 2 lane road. We have been using 2500gal porta-tanks that have a much smaller footprint, and when needed we use multiple tanks that can be placed together or a few feet apart as space allows and water can be transfered from tank to tank with a jet siphon.

In addition to the water supply duties, 2331 can be found in use as a road block, controling traffic and providing priceless safety for a vehicle accident scene.

Brush 2340

2002 Ford F350 Superduty 4x4

Brush 2340 has seating for a crew of 4, a 250 gallon water tank which feeds a 150gpm gasoline engine driven pump applying water through 3 discharges for full pump and roll capability.

Hand tools include 4 indian packs and an array of brooms, rakes, shovels, and a chain saw.

In addition to brush fires 2340 is used in traffic control for vehicle accidents, and used as a chiefs vehicle as it is equiped with both UHF and VHF mobile radios identicle to the rest of our fleet.
